Ridley Scott, the director of the original Blade Runner , reports that he is working on a TV series of the same name. He told the BBC that the script for the show’s pilot, as well as for Alien, already existed. The same is true of the idea for the first ten episodes. Ridley Scott said:
We’ve already written a pilot for Blade Runner . So we presented the title as a series and we have an idea for 10 hours of entertainment.
News of the live-action project is new, despite the Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime series debuting on Adult Swim earlier this month. The original 1982 Blade Runner is loosely based on the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Directed by Scott, Harrison Ford starred as Rick Deckard.
