Over the past weeks, we have been eagerly following the news related to The Medium , the latest horror game from Bloober Team, referring to the Japanese classic of the genre – the Silent Hill series . The trailer created by Tomasz Bagiński was viewed by 2.7 million people on YouTube. At the moment, on Metacritic, the title boasts an average rating of 73 points, but it may even increase as there are numerous opinions indicating that we are dealing with a great artistic success. Nevertheless, the game divided the critics, as Piotr Babieno, president of Bloober Team, referred to:
I’ve always said that I’d rather our games get extreme ratings than just good but unemotional. The scatter of ratings (from 3/10 to 10/10) shows that our games move the audience, that they reach their interior. It’s the kind of cultural product you’ll either love or hate. No intermediate colors
The Medium is a production for PC and the Xbox Series X | S console, which uses pioneering technical solutions (a story played on two screens simultaneously), combined with a film narrative. A number of recognized artists from around the world took part in the creation of the game, ranging from famous American voice actors: Troy Baker (including Mass Effect 3 , Diablo III , The Last of Us or Bioshock Infinite ), Mary Elizabeth McGlynn ( Silent Hill series and Devil May Cry ), musicians – Akira Yamaoce ( Silent Hill), and on film actors – Marcin Dorociński and Weronika Rosati. The title tells the story of Marianna – the title Medium, thanks to which the heroine sees more than ordinary mortals.
