He shared this information as a guest of the Variety Studio – Actors On Actors program, where he spoke with Ewan McGregor. Both actors are related to the Star Wars universe: McGregor will be seen soon in the new Star Wars series, Obi Wan Kenobi, while Pascal plays Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. When asked by McGregor about the progress of his project, Pascal admitted that the third season had not been shot yet.
It was already known that the work on the set of The Mandalorian was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Back then, however, it was said that filming would begin in April this year. We now know that these plans were too optimistic, not to mention the fact that Pedro Pascal was hired to work on the series adaptation of The Last of Us . The actor will play the role of the main character of the story – Joel Miller, and will play alongside Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones.
But besides The Mandalorian , Lucasfilm has more productions planned. During the Disney Investor Day 2020 broadcast in December, Kathleen Kennedy ( Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Han Solo: Star Wars Stories, Rogue One: Star Wars Stories ) spoke about other Star Wars titles . The producer revealed that the Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic series will be related to The Mandalorian. It was then that fans learned that Hayden Christensen (Anakin) had joined the cast of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series , and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron – scheduled for 2023, would be directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster, The Investigation ).
Star Wars fans got used to the premiere of new seasons of The Mandalorian in the fall – the first debuted in November 2019 and the second in October 2020. Apparently, however, this year will be different in this respect, and instead of it, another spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett , will debut in the fall of 2021 .
