The second part of Peter Jackson’s cult trilogy takes viewers to the place where their predecessor left them. The Fellowship of the Ring has been shattered, Frodo, the Ring-bearer (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin), wanting at all costs to complete the mission of destroying the Ring of Power in the land of Mordor, move away from the group, not wanting to expose its members to further dangers. They are also aware that alone it will be easier for them to avoid the enemies who are looking for them. Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) decide in turn to follow the Uruk-Hai group, which captured two hobbits, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd). The enemy, however, is awake – Saruman (Christopher Lee), a wizard-traitor who joined Sauron, plans to take control of the land of Rohan.
Polish viewers had the opportunity to see the first part of the trilogy at IMAX earlier this year. The continuation of the series in this technology was eagerly awaited due to the unique experience it offers. IMAX is a one-of-a-kind, full-scale cinematic experience. Unusual impressions are provided by the widescreen, huge screen and perfect, spatial sound, thanks to the speakers placed in carefully designated places: behind the screen, on the sides of the room and on the ceiling. IMAX screens in Poland are 24 meters wide and 18 meters high, which, combined with sound effects, offers a film experience that exceeds the limits of your imagination.

The Lord of the Rings festival is not the only excitement at Cinema City on the May weekend. On April 29, three more titles will have their premiere – the French comedy Family Body Swap , horror X and the family animation Even Mice Go to Heaven . There will also be pre-premiere screenings of the Polish film Fucking Bornholm , on May 1 in selected cinemas and on May 3 in all Cinema City cinemas.
Family body swap is a crazy movie game based on the well-known convention of mixing souls and bodies, which this time happens in the classic family. Mother, father, two teenage children and a six-year-old wake up one morning in other bodies of the household, which, as you can guess, generates a lot of confusion, and gives the viewers the opportunity to laugh a lot. Emotions will also accompany the premiere screenings of film X. Ti West’s masterful horror film about young filmmakers who, at home in a remote Texas wilderness, have to deal with eccentric hosts and terrifying events that were not in the script. We will see Mia Goth ( Suspiria , Nympho ), Jenna Ortega ( The Scream , Insidious) and Scott Mescudi, known as rapper Kid Cudi.
The youngest and their families will see a cheerful and funny animation Even Mice Go to Heaven , which shows what happens when hit animals go to the afterlife. There, even a little mouse and a fox can become friends. In the new world, they have to give up their instincts and face a fantastic adventure. Despite their initial reluctance, they decide to discover together the secrets of an unexplored and surprising underworld. Will they cope with new challenges and unusual adventures? The film animation was created in a Polish-Czech-French-Slovak co-production, and the directing is by Jan Bubeníček and Denisa Grimmová.
