Free League Publishing has confirmed that a new Lord of the Rings RPG is in development , which will implement the rules from the Fifth Edition of Dungeons and Dragons to Middle-earth. There will be six new classes in the game, amazing artifacts and a lot of magic, straight from the Tolkien universe. The manual will be released in the first quarter of 2023, but it will be possible to pre-order in the fall.
The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying by Free League Publishing will probably be a new edition of the RPG called Adventures in Middle-Earth , which was also based on the 5E rules. However, this has not been officially confirmed by the developers.
Adventures in Middle-Earth was released by Cubicle 7 along with another game also set in Middle-Earth, The One Ring. The company, however, lost the rights to both titles in 2019. The key difference between the upcoming The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying and Adventures in Middle-Earth is the location. In the new RPG, we will find ourselves in a land that has hardly ever appeared in previous installments – in Eriador, inhabited in the First Age by elves from the Nandor tribe.
More information about the title will be revealed by the developers over the next few months. It is known, however, that pre-ordering the game will give players early access to the product in the PDF version.
