‘The Lord of the Rings’ – Andy Serkis interested in returning

Kadr z trylogii "Władca Pierścieni". Peter Jackson

The Tolkien-penned franchise is currently led by Warner Bros. Discovery, which means that, following the footsteps of other major franchises,  The Lord of the Rings can expect a lot of new material. Known for the role of Gollum, Andy Serkis expressed his desire to return to the world of Middle-earth.

JRR Tolkien’s film world has developed greatly since Peter Jackson’s  first Lord of the Rings films . Andy Serkis, the actor who plays the role of Gollum , recently admitted that he would be happy to return to the franchise, currently under the care of Warner Bros. Discovery, as long as the same filmmakers are involved in the project. It is currently unknown how creators such as Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens will be involved in the new material, although Jackson himself admitted that he was in talks with Warner Bros. about Tolkien’s universe. There is therefore a possibility that the director will be involved in future projects.

Listen, [producers] Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens are like a second family that I’ve become a part of and made a lot of movies with. And let me tell you, they are the best people to work with. I think there are a lot of potential Middle-earth projects that could be made, and if they do, I would of course like to take the chance to rekindle that relationship… Middle-earth has never left me.

Serkis said on BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast .

With the Hobbit trilogy somewhat of a disappointment to fans, the series stagnated for nearly a decade, but was revived last year with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series . Jackson recalled that he was interested in collaborating with the studio to contribute something to the project, however ultimately he was never approached for guidance .
