The timeless story in the visionary version of "Pinocchio" directed by Matteo Garrone is already after its premiere at the Berlinale, The most famous liar in the world will come to Polish cinemas on May 8.
Visually impressive, full of adventure, wisdom and humor, the newest adaptation of “Pinocchio” by Carlo Collodi – the most popular children’s book of all time, translated into a record number of over 260 languages worldwide. The role of the famous Gepett was played by Roberto Benigni, who was awarded an Oscar for his role in the production of “Life is Beautiful”. Directing was undertaken by Matteo Garrone, a visionary creator of “Pentameron” and “Gomorrah”, who won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival twice. The Oscar and Golden Globe winner Dario Marianelli is responsible for the unique musical setting. The new version of “Pinocchio” is also fairy-tale characters, whose amazing appearance is the result of the meticulous work of the outstanding makeup artist Mark Coulier – a two-time Oscar winner, who has worked on such hits as “Jurrasic World: The Fall of the Kingdom”,
The film was appreciated by critics who appreciate the beautiful visual side of the production. “Pinocchio” had its world premiere at the currently ongoing 70th Berlin International Film Festival. The visionary screening of the cult story has already been appreciated by Italians who flocked to the cinemas – so far in Italy alone, the production has earned over 16 million dollars.

One day a piece of wood falls into the hands of a good carpenter named Gepetto. From the very beginning, the man feels that there is some magical power hidden in this seemingly inanimate object. He decides to make a boy character out of it. Unexpectedly created by him figure comes to life – he can talk, laugh, jump and run. Gepetto names him Pinocchio and begins to care for him as if he were his own son. The wooden boy is so fascinated by the world around him that he can see for the first time that he ceases to listen to the good advice of the guardian. Driven by curiosity, Pinocchio sets out on a journey full of adventures, dangers and life lessons. On his way, he meets a magical fairy, a giant snail, animals that speak with a human voice, and even visits a huge whale’s belly. A worried Gepetto sets out in his footsteps.
