The fake Thanksgiving trailer will become reality after all! Sony Pictures has released the latest – real trailer for the movie Thanksgiving Night. Check it out for yourself!
Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Thanksgiving Night , the upcoming film from Eli Roth. A concept that has been circulating for over 15 years ironically began its life as a trailer. Notably, Roth directed the Thanksgiving Night trailer as part of Grindhouse, a Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez film that played like an old drive-in schlock double feature, right down to fake trailers and the like. Thanksgiving is the third (of five) fake Grindhouse trailer that ultimately became a real movie. The others include Robert Rodriguez’s Machete , which spawned a 2010 film starring Danny Trejo and even spawned a sequel; and Jason Eisner’s The Hobo with a Shotgun , which was released in 2011 and starred the late Rutger Hauer.
The inherent absurdity of a slasher film based on the idea of an American Thanksgiving is part of the film’s appeal, giving it the same energy as more recent films like Cocaine Bear or, to some extent, the indie sensation The VelociPastor (which was also based on a fake trailer).

Who will perform on Thanksgiving Night?
Thanksgiving (2023) stars Addison Rae along with Patrick Dempsey, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Milo Manheim, Gabriel Davenport, Tomaso Sanelli, Jenna Warren, Tim Dillon, Rick Hoffman and Gina Gershon .
It’s hard to say what to expect from the film, other than a bit of gore and some laughs. Roth has been one of the biggest names in horror since 2000, when he burst onto the scene by writing, directing and producing his own cult horror films : Deadly Fever (2002), Hostel (2005) and Hostel 2 (2007). He branched out into bigger projects in recent years, producing and/or directing things like Netflix’s Hemlock Grove and even the Baywatch remake , but he was never quite the same cultural phenomenon he was when his career exploded. Similarly, of the three movies that came out of Grindhouse , only the first Machete actually made money. Of course, even Grindhouse itself performed modestly at the box office and is more fondly remembered by its cult following than its commercial success.
What is the production about?
Here’s the official (though brief) synopsis of the film:
After the Black Friday riots end in tragedy, a mysterious serial killer, known only as “John Carver”, arrives in Plymouth, Massachusetts with the intention of creating a Thanksgiving carving board from the town’s inhabitants.
Thanksgiving Night hits theaters on November 24!
