The last Tavern at the Poznań Festival of Comic Art!

On April 7-10, the Poznań Comic Art Festival was held. Among the speakers were also the editors of the Last Tavern. If you could not come to Poznań, and you would like to check what we told you about, then you have the opportunity. All lectures are now available on the Internet!

Behind us is the 5th edition of the Poznań Comic Art Festival organized by the NOVA Comics Reading Room and the University Library in Poznań. Among the many wonderful guests, there was also a place for several representatives of the Last Tavern. One of the most important people was Agnieszka Czoska , who answered our Instagram, and conducted most of the lectures. It was she who conducted, among others an interview with the creators of Rzezzin , i.e. Zvyrke, TomXYZ and Tomasz Kontny. You can watch the entire conversation below:

Agnieszka also had the opportunity to talk to Jerzy Szyłak, a literary scholar and comic book scriptwriter. It was he who created, among others Playing with the body , Something more, something less , Comics and the vicinity of the cinema , Comics in the grip of mediocrity or a series about Dampc. What interesting did the author tell our friend?

Another guest was Bartosz Stuła , a person you can associate with comic book reviews, especially those about Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge. The topic of his lecture was “Post-apocalyptic threat in American comics”. Bartek presented how the atomic threat that could lead to a post-apocalyptic situation is perceived in selected comic book titles with Scrooge McKwacz or the heroes of DC and Marvel, and what consequences it had for the heroes of the cartoon world. He gave his lecture online.

If you like our Tournaments and you visit our Facebook frequently, then you should also know Piotr Markiewicz . It is he who usually responds to your entries and makes sure that you can get excited during the next struggles of numerous heroes. This time, however, he decided to put on Joe Coffin’s outfit and a little closer to the silhouette of this “Freddy Krueger from Brazil”. The story of this character dates back to the early 1960s, when he first appeared in the movie At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul . Recently, the comic Skazaniec 666 appeared on our market , which tells the unknown fate of Coffin. Intrigued? Then find out more!

However, this was not the only speech by Piotr. Together with Bartłomiej Bielas, he also talked about the popular RPG Vampir: Masquerade , which also got a comic book version. Was moving a role-playing game to comic book cards a good idea? Will the title appeal to fans of the series? Does it have a chance to attract new players to the World of Darkness? See what our colleagues said about it!

During the festival, there was also the Shrew and the comic-book knowledge competition! And it was prepared and conducted by our friends Damian “Nox” Lesicki and Jacek Murawski . In the game, questions were asked about Polish, American, Japanese and European, mainstream and independent comics. So everything was asked! And how did the players go? And how well would you do? Test yourself!

Of course, these are not the only attractions that were available in Poznań. Among other lectures, you could hear about music in the comic book and film Kruk , the post-apocalypse, Tom Taylor, superheroes during World War II, Stan Lee, manga, and politics in comics. There was also a block of meetings with authors, during which meetings were held with, for example, Ottoich, Piotr Nowacki, Beata Rojek, Łukasz Godlewski and Bartosz Minkiewicz. The full program is still available on the festival website . You can find all recordings from the convention here .
