Comic book adaptations of movie stories are interesting for young and old readers. One of the most loved animations of all time is The Lion King. An adaptation of one of the Disney classics is a real treat for fans of a young lion named Simba.
New – old story
The plot of the comic book is not surprising. When the young lion Simba learns that he will someday become king, he becomes impatient. She is looking forward to this big day! The Lion’s Earth seems enormous, but for a young lion cub, the most important aspect of being a ruler is that he will finally be able to walk wherever he has not been allowed before. Simba’s carelessness leads to misfortune, and the actions of his uncle Scar make the hero run away. It will be a long time before the future heir to the throne returns to his relatives to fight for the unattended herd. As you can see, the storyline of the movie and the comic book are the same. This is probably because a significant interference in the content of the story would not allow the comic to be called an adaptation. And this is probably what the originators and contractors wanted: Bobbi JG Weiss is responsible for the adaptation of the script of the first release, the drawings are by Sparky Moor, and the new colors of characters and backgrounds were prepared by Angela Capolupo – MA World. Meanwhile, Mateusz Lis did the translation.
But it was already?
Do not be deceived – if you cried in the movie, here you can also shed a tear. The heroes are modeled on the characters from the 1994 full-length animated film The Lion King , so all your memories will come alive! However, you need to know about one thing before reading – the notebook is not a novelty. In 1997, a few years after the premiere of the film about the Simba lion, the Egmont publishing house released a comic book in Poland (interestingly, the issue 2/97 cost less than PLN 4!). It allowed readers / viewers to get to know the hero’s story from a different perspective. And if you are familiar with the cited proposal, you will surely notice that it does not differ much from the recently published issue. More than twenty years have passed and the boards seem to be the same. It is worth noting, however, that the line is more distinct in places and the colors are more intense. At the end of the notebook, there are several frames gathered under the common heading “Memories” – these are unique moments in the lives of the inhabitants of Lion’s Land.
New collection – classic Disney fairy tales
Egmont never ceases to surprise me – the latest collection is prepared with the greatest care. The only drawback is the soft cover – a thin book wrinkles quickly, especially when it is repeatedly read by the youngest audience. So far, the Lion King and 101 Dalmatians have been published in the latest collection, while a booklet in love with the mongrel is being prepared . I recommend this series of Egmont especially to people who do not have fairy tales (and comics) in their bookcases. However, if you know the movie from the 90s well, this proposal will not surprise you with anything new.
