The creators of Dune: Spice Wars announced that the game is finally ready for release. It will be leaving Early Access next month. However, we still do not know the exact date when the title will be fully available.
Currently, many fans are waiting for the sequel to the 2021 film Dune . The series itself has been hugely popular since it appeared as a series of books by Frank Herbert. Since then, we have not only got movies, but also computer games from this universe. began as a series of books and has expanded into several other types of media besides film, including video games. Dune II from 1992 was one of the first real-time strategy games (so-called RTS), which contributed to the explosion of popularity of this genre. A few years ago, the Funcom team announced that they were working on returning to the roots of video games, creating a new grand strategy game called Dune: Spice Wars. The game has been in early access for over a year, but now the developers have announced that it is finally ready for release. The team didn’t give an exact date in their announcement, but we’ll probably find out soon enough. There are many indications that the title will be released in September.
At the moment, Dune: Spice Wars has received mostly positive feedback in early access. Of course, some players have game balance issues and other smaller issues, but these are things developer Shiro Games should be able to deal with once Early Access ends. After more than a year of active development with the community, it certainly seems that production is ready to successfully bring the franchise back to market. Of course, the RTS isn’t as popular as it once was, but reviews on Steam indicate it was a bull’s-eye for the team.
