The apocalyptic vision of Stephen King with a deadly virus pandemic in the background has been re-screened. This time, we will see Bastion in a version of the 9-episode television series from CBS All Access . It is co-created by Josh Boone and Benjamin Cavell .
Stephen King admitted that he didn’t quite like the ending featured in the 1994 ABC 4-episode mini-series, so it’s going to be changed a bit this time. We’ll see what happened later with the main characters Stu and Fran.
The novel The Bastion, published in 1978, presents a world where a mysterious flu-like virus has taken its toll on 99.4% of the world’s population. The survivors had revelations in the form of dream visions and split into two groups: envoys of the forces of Good led by 108-year-old Mother Abagail (we will see Whoopi Goldberg in this role in the new version ) and Evil, led by Randall Flagg (this time played by Alexandra Skarsgårda ).
In the other main roles we will see, among others:
- James Marsden as Stu Redman,
- Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith,
- Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood,
- Amber Heard as Nadine Cross.
The premiere of the first of 9 episodes of the series Bastion will take place on December 17, and the next episodes will be released every week.
