The first photo from the set of the series “Peacemaker” was published

The new  Suicide Squad  has not yet hit the cinema screens, and its series spin-off is already in production. Peacemaker , because that’s what we’re talking about, will debut on HBO Max in early 2022. And the first photo of his plan has just hit the network.

Photos of the actor playing the hero were published by Empire. It features John Cena in a full Peacemaker costume while he is working on the series on set. See for yourself:

But apart from the photography, the magazine also published an interview with James Gunn, one of the creators of the title (also visible in the photo). In the interview, he justified why the story of this particular character should be presented in the format of the series:

Peacemaker has a clear set of ideals that I find really interesting. It wants peace, no matter how many men, women and children must die to get it. Sounds like nonsense, but it also makes a lot of sense. And you see in John Cena’s performance that he doesn’t feel good about it – that was the seed for the entire 8-episode series. Peacemaker is also an ordinary guy living in the world of Superman, Batman, and Aquaman, and that’s not an easy thing to do.

Peacemaker  is a spin-off of  the Suicide Squad , an 8-episode production that was ordered by HBO in September 2020. James Gunn is responsible for its production as well as directing its five episodes.

When HBO announced the series, the filmmaker said in a statement that it would be a good opportunity to delve into the world’s current problems from the perspective of “superhero / super villain / bastard in the world.” For the director, it is also an opportunity to expand the story of the Suicide Squad and the DC universe itself. John Cena was also pleased with the possibility of re-incarnating as Peacemaker, in the role of which he will make his debut in the upcoming film The Suicide Squad .

The Peacemaker  series  will premiere on the HBO Max platform in January 2022.
