Based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Robert Jordan, the series arouses controversy among book fans. For now, only a fragment of the story is available, but the creators have changed a lot and new ideas do not appeal to all viewers. Nevertheless, reviewers point out that the creators neatly introduce the viewer to a huge, complicated world.
In the world of the Wheel of Time, women wield a mighty One Power. The men lost their magic after their arrogance destroyed the world. Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of Aes Sedai, travels to a small town to find the reborn Dragon who can save or destroy the world. He finds four twenty-year-olds who match the prophecy. He goes on an adventurous journey with them.
The executive producer and showrunner of the series is Rafe Judkins. The other executive producers are Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of iwot productions, Mike Weber and Ted Field of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe and Uta Briesewitz (director of the first two episodes).
