The event will start in 3 … 2 … – review of the comic book “Thor. Prelude to the War of the Worlds “, vol. 2

Egmont launches the great Marvel event which is the War of the Worlds. Of course, readers must prepare for it properly. This time Thor, who will be one of the most important characters of this event, is responsible for the introduction to it.

Collection of stories

Thor. The prelude to the war of the worlds consists of several different stories. The first of them goes back about a thousand years so that we can observe the actions of young Thor, his relationship with Midgard and his first love. The next ones are happening more recently. We can see, among other things, how the superhero is doing in a heavenly prison, his conflict with Odin, the search for his beloved Mjolnir or his relationship with Freya. In addition to Thunderbolt, there is also the story of Jane Foster , Loki and Roz Solomon, a former SHIELD agent who is just starting work for Wakanda. Everything leads us to Malekhit, who conquers new worlds. Its ultimate destination, however, is Earth.

Cohesion

The author of the comic book is Jason Aaron, the screenwriter responsible for the entire event called the War of the Worlds. Interestingly, the comic in question is not strictly an introduction to this event. Yes, the whole perpetrator of the fuss, Malekhit, appears here, but his performance is more welcoming. The story focuses primarily on the title character and is his mini-biography. Together with Thor, we travel into the past to see his first, youthful love elations or disputes with the Allfather. There are many different emotions tormenting Gromowładnym – from admiration for Midgard, through sorrows caused by the loss of loved ones, longing for Mjolnir, to self-acceptance. In addition, we get a solid portion of spectacular and brutal clashes. There is also a pinch of good humor. All of this is told in several stories,

Colorful and brutal

Thor. Prelude to the War of the Worldsit is quite varied when it comes to the layout. This is because three different cartoonists are responsible for it, each of whom has their own style. Mike Del Mundo puts the most of his work in his notebook. It should also be said right away that it is his graphics that are most eye-catching. Pastel and slightly psychedelic drawings will surely make an extraordinary impression on the recipients. The Njebo shown by the creator is especially delighted, but also in other worlds they managed to capture their unique atmosphere. The pages prepared by Tony Moore and Lee Garbett also fare quite well. Everyone has done their job very well. There is no shortage of brutality in the frames. Thor’s bloody murder with Odin or the gouged out eyes of a troll mean that the comic book should not fall into the hands of younger audiences. And although the scenes are beastly at times, at the same time, they are quite humorous, which gives them a lighter tone. It gets much more serious when the hero’s internal dilemmas are presented. However, in this aspect, the cartoonists managed to convey what the screenwriter wanted to show us.

Like a turtle sluggish …

If you would like to complete all the War of the Worlds comics, then of course you should also have the second volume of Thor . Only that in fact there are hardly any references to the event in question. The story that takes place in the Marvel universe almost stands still here, as most of the events described are a flashback from the life of a superhero. However, it was presented in an accessible and interesting way. Several themes were also introduced that will certainly have an impact on the future, such as the one related to Roz Solomon. However, excluding this notebook altogether, you probably would have no problems finding your place in the next adventures of these characters. However, you would lose a solid superhero titlewith the considerations of Gromowładny and a nice shambles in his performance. And for the graphics itself, it is also worth paying attention to.
