At the moment, there is no indication that it will be anytime soon. Bethesda doesn’t say a word about the game, let alone suggesting a release date. However, previous games from Bethesda Game Studios – such as Skyrim – may give us a pretty good idea of when the long-awaited new Elder Scrolls game will be released . Based on Skyrim and other Bethesda Game Studios games, it looks like The Elder Scrolls VI will be released in 2026 at the earliest.
Skyrim premiered on November 11, 2011, roughly three years after Fallout 3 , which was released on October 26, 2008. Why is this important? After its launch , Skyrim went from pre-production to full production. Once in full production, Bethesda took three years to release Skyrim . Then Fallout 4 entered full production , which took four years to release. These were the last two games from Bethesda Game Studios, so they are a good benchmark.
This brings us to The Elder Scrolls 6 , which is currently in pre-production. This will not change until Starfield is released . At the moment, the sci-fi RPG is set to be released in the first half of 2023. If that date continues, thenThe Elder Scrolls 6will go into full production. Assuming the production of the game will last as long as in the case ofSkyrim, the game will be released in 2026. If it is closer to the development ofFallout 4, it will be released in 2027.
Video game development is taking longer now than it was when Skyrim was created . The expectation of a premiere in 2026 may remain just a fan wish. The premiere in 2027 seems to be more likely, assuming that the development of the game will go smoothly.
These are only speculations, but based on real observations, patterns and knowledge of the industry. When will we officially hear more about the game? It definitely won’t be until Starfield ‘s premiere . There is a chance the game will return with a new trailer in 2023.
