Recently, more and more details have emerged about the so far mysterious Star Wars project . Obaid-Chinoy will handle the script, which Lindelof will co-write with Justin Britt-Gibson, the writer who previously worked on The Virus.
In addition to the facilities, we also got to know some details about the project itself. The new Star Wars are to take place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker , although it will not be a direct continuation of the sequel trilogy. The current plan is to create a single film that could possibly be expanded, but only in the event of financial success. According to The Hollywood Reporter , since this will be a postsequel production, some of the characters in the new trilogy may return to the screen (although this is not a certainty).

We do not know more about the new film, and the scriptwriter himself did not refer to the rumors circulating around. Earlier this year, however, he expressed considerable enthusiasm for the possibility of working on the cult franchise:
(…) and at some point, but certainly not in the near future, I think I would like to do something in the Star Wars universe . Maybe in the next decade when I will no longer be blamed for ruining it. It would be great.
While Lucasfilm has shelved the Rogue Squadron Patty Jenkins, we can still look forward to tons of new Star Wars projects. We still have a movie by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, and screenwriter Michael Waldron. Rian Johnson, director of The Last Jedi, is also working on a completely original trilogy .
I spoke to [Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy] about it, and we’re still talking about it. It was such an amazing experience to create The Last Jedi . It’s just a matter of the schedule. For me, releasing this [ Glass Onion ] and making the next one in the [ Knife sequels ] series… The answer is I don’t know.
