The immediate, unexpected popularity of the Korean series made Netflix almost immediately order the next season. In an interview with KBS, translated by Korea Times, Hwang Dong-hyuk commented on the continuation of the series.
I am in talks with Netflix on both the second and third season. We will come to an agreement in the near future.
So far, there is no official information when the production of the second season will start or the expected release date. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk initially stated that after the first season, he needed to recharge his batteries to start producing the series’ sequel. He recently told the Associated Press that season two is in his head and he is planning it right now. However, it is too early for final information.
