Ed Boon likes to connect with fans and see what piques their interest. This time on Twitter, he asked observers in a poll what they prefer – a remaster or a continuation of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
Ed Boon is constantly asking Mortal Kombat fans what they would like to see in the next installment of the series. The creator often browses past entries for ideas. This week, he asked Twitter followers if they would rather see a remaster or a sequel to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks . Over 90,000 people voted in the poll, with 55.4% supporting the remaster option and 44.6% voting for a sequel. Considering it’s been 18 years since the game was released, it makes sense that many Mortal Kombat fans might not have played it!

Readers should note that just because Boon asked about Shaolin Monks doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see one of the options he presents. A remaster would certainly make sense, but NetherRealm Studios may be too busy with Mortal Kombat 12 at the moment . Bear in mind that Boon just likes to interact with the audience and see what catches their interest! He also recently asked fans what mode they would like to see in a return, mentioning Chess Kombat, Konquest, Motor Kombat, and Puzzle Kombat.
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks was released for PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox in 2005. A spin-off of the series, Shaolin Monks is a fighting game that tells the story of Mortal Kombat II . Players can choose between Liu Kang and Kung Lao, with Scorpion and Sub-Zero appearing as unlockable characters. The game could be played alone, but also offered a co-op mode for two players. Several other MK favorites have popped up throughout the game, both as allies and enemies. While many Mortal Kombat spin-offs received poor reviews, Shaolin Monks was fairly well received. Unfortunately, it never came out on another platform, so the remaster seems long overdue!
