The works of Hiro Mashima were inspired by the works of Akira Toriyama, ie Dragon Ball , Ultimate Muscles  and  Dragon Quest . He attended an art school, but later decided that this form of study did not suit him. He then began to learn by himself. During this time, Mashima began to watch a huge amount of movies through which he learned to better represent angles and framing. As he says: ” Braveheart  and  The Lord of the Rings had the greatest influence on him  .” Mashima’s works can be clearly classified into the Shōnen genre. Mashima, his so-called The “dash” was initially modeled on Toriyama’s “dash”. This is also the reason why his works are similar to the works of Eiichiro Oda (including  One Piece ), and not as it was said – widespread outside Japan – the rumor that Mashima was Oda’s assistant. In fact, he was never an assistant to any mangaka.
