While fans of King’s work may be more familiar with the novel, The Town of Salem – thanks in large part to several adaptations of it, the story of Doli Jerusalem takes place much earlier in the city’s history. The upcoming storytelling series, Chapelwaite, will give viewers a whole new perspective on his dark and spine-chilling past. Watch the trailer now:
The production is based on a short story by Stephen King, a prequel to Salem’s Town, and will consist of ten episodes. We will see Adrien Brody in the lead role, as well as Emily Hampshire.
The action of Chapelwaite takes place in the 1850s and focuses on the fate of Captain Charles Boone, who, after the death of his wife, moves with his three children to his family home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine. However, soon the man will have to confront the dark history of his family and fight against the darkness that has haunted her for generations.
As EPIX President Michael Wright said about the series when it was announced:
This series is an intense, absolutely terrifying reimagining of classic gothic horror. We look forward to working with the exceptional team of Donald De Line, Jason and Peter Filardi, along with the phenomenal Adrien Brody… and of course the champion Stephen King in terms of the genre.
The first season of Chapelwaite will debut on EPIX on August 22 this year.
