Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy received a film adaptation in 2014 and did not get very good grades. According to many fans, this was the “wasted potential” of the books. The new Peacock streaming platform has taken full advantage of it and we already know who we will see in the upcoming series.
Julie Plec is responsible for the production of the Vampire Academy , which under her wings had such titles as The Vampire Diaries , The Originals , The Tomorrow People , Vampires: Legacy and Kyle XY .

Vampire Academy is based on the Young Adult series of paranormal romances by best-selling international author Richelle Mead. In a world of privilege and glamor, the friendship of two young women takes a whole new level as they prepare to complete their education and enter royal vampire society. The series combines the elegance of an aristocratic romance with a supernatural thriller and vampires.
St. Vladimir is not just a boarding school – it’s a mysterious place where vampires are educated and teenage half-humans train to protect them from wild strigoi.
The cast of the series is as follows:
- Sisi Stringer – Rose Hathaway, a hybrid of a vampire and a human known as a dhampir. Temperamental and sincere. Rose is a true fighter in both spirit and body. She may be the strongest fighter in her class, but her success will only depend on her willingness to surrender when the need arises.
- Daniela Nieves – Dragomir, the royal vampire of Moroj. She grew up as the younger sister of the heir to the throne. Princess Vasilisa Dragomir is a carefree, good-natured member of the royal family who makes her way through her studies and chases the fun. Lissa is not interested in the political machinations of the royal court or the hypocrisy of the Moroi society. However, with the sudden death in her family, Lissa finds herself drawn into a role for which she is neither trained nor emotionally prepared.
- Kieron Moore – Dimitri Belikov, Dhampir. Deadly, disciplined, discreet and completely devoted to the role of bodyguard of the ruling Moroi. He lives by a profound moral code, but beneath his stoic, watchful surface hides an expansive spirit that can threaten to reveal a hidden tension between feeling what is right and formal duty to the Moroi.
- André Dae Kim – Christian Ozera, the royal vampire of the Moroi. Intelligent and prudent, he is a pariah of the school and the royal court by the unforgivable sin of his parents. Well-read, hungry for knowledge, he seeks to know faith-based answers and finds a kindred soul who also seeks the truth.
- J. August Richards – Victor Dashkov. Victor is a Moroi noble vampire with a heart of gold. He is highly regarded for his role as political advisor and strategist to Moroi dignitaries. He is a fierce loyalist who uses his intelligence and influence to protect what he values the most.
- Anita-Joy Uwajeh – Tatiana Vogel. She is a losing political maritime vampire who is slowly taking the royal court by storm. Motivated by love and a sense of justice, Tatiana has a unique ability to make her appear innocent and harmless until we realize too late that this is what we should always watch out for.

- Andrew Liner – Mason Ashford. The charming, loyal and popular Mason is Rose’s main competitor in her quest to become the Number 1 Guardian. While their relationship with Rose is casual, Mason hopes that she will eventually look at him and see someone more in him.
The release date of the Vampire Academy is not yet known, although 2022 is expected.
