The cast of the “Gry o Thron” spin-off has been enlarged by new names

The famous cast of “House of the Dragon” has just doubled. Deadline reveals four more people involved in the upcoming HBO project.

Game of Thrones may be over, but that doesn’t mean saying goodbye to Westeros and the surrounding area. The world created by GRR Martin and screened by David Benioff and DB Weiss has many more secrets to be discovered and stories to be told. One of them is the rise of the Targaryen family, which will be shown in House of the Dragon . So far, it was known that Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy were involved in the production of HBO. Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno seem to be joining them.

According to the information provided by  Deadline , the series will feature five main characters: King Viserys Targaryen (Considine), Alicent Hightower (Cooke), Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (D’Arcy), Prince Daemon Targaryen (Smith) and Lord Corlys Velaryon, also called The Water Serpent (Toussaint). The other three actors were given roles: a royal governor named Otto Hightower (Ifans), Princess Rhaenys Velaryon (Best), and Prince Daemon’s ally, Mysaria, who “came to Westeros with nothing and was sold more times than she can remember.” This character is portrayed by Sonoya Mizuno.

House of the Dragon  will be inspired by Geogre Martin’s book,  Fire and Blood . The writer himself expects to be involved in production. As you can read on his blog:

Who knows, if everything goes right, I might even write a few episodes, as I did in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones. (…) However, I will not take up any scripts until I finish and publish “Winter’s Winds”. Winter is still coming and “Winds” remain my priority, even though I would love to come up with an episode of “House”

The first season of the upcoming series is to have 10 episodes. Miguel Sapochnik will be lead producer and George RR Martin, Vince Gerardis and Ryan Condal will serve as executive producers. The premiere of House of the Dragon is scheduled for 2022.

Which production from the world of Westeros are you looking forward to more – a series or a book? Will you give the new HBO production a chance, despite the not-so-well received finale of Game of Thrones?
