The Box is a psychological crime drama with elements of science fiction. The story is set in Kansas City and follows the fate of a policewoman named Sharon Pici, played by Anna Friel, known from productions such as Absolute Control , Midsummer Night’s Dream , and I Am God . A policewoman experiences a nightmare after one of the investigations becomes an obsession.
Sharon Pici becomes embroiled in a police investigation that turns into a nightmare. Eventually, it ceases to distinguish between reality and dream. The role of her partner, Lovell, was played by Alexander Karim, associated, among others, from the film Before The Night Comes , and the role of the commander of the Jeda police station was given to Peter Stormare, known from the TV series Prisoner of Death . The Box is an English-language production with an international cast that was recorded at Cirkus in Stockholm. The Swedish team at Viaplay Studios has gone to great lengths to build the most authentic American police station there with locker rooms, offices, interrogation rooms… and more.
The trailer for the show reveals to viewers the terrifying images and the death of the suspect in the interrogation room just as Sharon Pici brings her coffee. Her colleague Lovell blames her for the death, but the pieces of the puzzle don’t quite fit together. A series of unexplained phenomena can be observed at the police station. The events begin to torment a policewoman for whom the line between truth and falsehood becomes blurred. He has to fight to keep his sober mind and face his coworkers.

The series was directed by Steve Shill – the creator of hits such as The Law of the Street or The Sopranos , winner of an Emmy for outstanding directing of the series Dexter . The seven-episode drama series The Box was created by lead author and showrunner Adi Hasak, who is behind productions such as Uwikłana and Witness . The series was produced by Viaplay Studios with support from Night Train Studios. The producer is Cecilia Norman Mardell of Viaplay Studios. The executive producer for NENT Group, owner of the Viaplay platform, is Fredrik Ljungberg, and the executive producer for Night Train Media is Herbert L Kloibert.
