According to Deadline, the newest title on the growing list of Stephen King’s planned adaptations is the horror-western Regulators . George Cowan collaborated with Justin Ross on a script that won King’s approval. The original novel was published in 1996 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. According to the website, the project is being prepared with the big screen in mind, but the film Regulators is in such an early stage of development that it is not known whether the film will have a theatrical premiere or debut on the streaming service.

Stephen King’s official website describes the story as follows:

“The quiet life in the Poplar Street suburb of Wentworth, Ohio is broken one fine day when four vans with ‘regulator’ shotguns terrorize the street residents, killing in cold blood anyone foolish enough to venture outside. The houses mysteriously turn into log cabins, and the street now ends with what looks like a child’s hand-drawn western landscape. At the helm of this sudden attack is the evil Tak creature, which took over the body of an autistic boy whose parents had died in a shootout a few months earlier. ”

“We are very excited to be working with the prolific Stephen King and his team on this project. The themes and characters of the novel work very well together and we can’t wait to make an amazing movie, ”said Bohemia Group president Susan Ferris.

“Working with Stephen King is a long-term wish fulfilled. Susan, George and I can’t wait to make the novel and its writer proud, ”continued Ross.

Bachman’s story , The Great March , is also being screened by director André Øvredal.
