Earth is no longer the center of the universe.
After the invention of the jump drive that allows space travel at superluminal speed, humanity is establishing new colonies. However, the huge distances between the newly inhabited systems mean that the old order and the interstellar law, supervised by the Earth, cease to exist.
When a neighboring world launches an attack, a young colony, Glenlyon, turns to Robert Geary, a former Starfleet Officer, and Mele Darcy, a former Private Space Infantry. With only improvised weapons and a dozen volunteers at their disposal, they must face warships and armed soldiers.
In the face of further attacks and increasing losses inflicted by pirates, the only hope for regaining peace is Carmen Ochoa, “Redhead” from Mars plunged into anarchy, and Lochan Nakamura, a failed politician. The two, however, have a plan – they want to lay the groundwork for a collective defense that could one day turn into an alliance. However, if their efforts fail, the growing power of the aggressors could turn these remote regions of the cosmos, which were the bastion of freedom, into the battlefields of the first star empires.
