‘The Ark’: Is space the hero of the show? The director answers

Materiały prasowe "The Ark"

A month ago, a new sci-fi series, The Ark, debuted . We had the opportunity to speak with production director Dean Devlin and ask how much of a role the galaxy plays in the show.

The Ark takes place a hundred years in the past, when missions to colonize other planets became a necessity to ensure human survival. The first such initiative, on the Ark One spacecraft, was complicated by a catastrophic accident that led to damage to the machine and fatalities among the crew. The colonists have more than a year to go without leadership and with greatly reduced supplies. Will the crew survive in the new, extremely dangerous conditions?

The series stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read and Ryan Adams. The production was directed by Dean Devlin ( Independence Day, Stargate ).

Dean Devlin, when asked by us whether space is the hero of the series or just the background to its action, replied:

In our series, the cosmos is the antagonist. The cosmos is constantly trying to kill you; maybe not deliberately, but because of its existence and because we really shouldn’t be there. The cosmos in our show is the hero and that’s the threat with which [other heroes – ed. red.] have to measure themselves every day.

You can watch The Ark on Canal+ Online and Polsat Box Go and on Wednesdays at 23:00 on the SCI FI channel.
