A new horror from Until Dawn devs will be available on August 30 . Thanks to Cenega, we had the opportunity to see the game in action.
After the warmly received Until Dawn released exclusively on PS4 consoles, Supermassive Games allied with Bandai Namco to create multiplatform games for The Dark Pictures anthology . Each game in the series is to offer a separate story, while the common feature is the horror convention. The upcoming Men of Medan will follow the fate of four young Americans who are privately fans of diving. They set out on the waters of the Pacific to investigate a shipwreck from World War II. However, strange events start to happen during the works. With each object picked up from the water, the frequency of unexplained incidents increases, and completely new secrets unfold before the heroes.
The gameplay is supposed to resemble what we know from Until Dawn . The creators therefore focus primarily on telling stories in the style of interactive films. From time to time, however, there will be arcade sections and simple logical puzzles. Importantly, in the game we will control as many as five different characters – four divers and a boat captain. The key factor is to be non-linearity. There is plenty of choice waiting for the player that can lead the story to alternative paths and determine the life or death of the heroes. The title was designed with multiple passages in mind.
An unusual element in Men of Medan will be the multiplayer mode, or actually the modes. The first of them – Shared Story Mode , will allow you to play online with the other players. Everyone will control a different character in parallel, thus getting to know the story from different perspectives. Movie Night Mode, in turn, is designed for up to five players. Here, the fun will take place in a local mode, on the basis of a “hot chair”. The players will therefore control the selected characters and pass the controller to each other at the right moments. The most interesting thing is that the creators do not intend to promote cooperation. Yes, cooperation will be possible, but you can also take care of yourself and even put logs under the feet of other players.
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 30
