After almost a year of gossiping, Microsoft officially announced that the cult RTS series Age of Empires will appear on the Xbox platform. So far, the PC exclusive will appear on the Xbox Series S, Series X consoles and the Xbox Cloud Gaming service.
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be released on January 31, 2023, as will Age of Empires IV , but the exact date for the four is not yet known. Players unfamiliar with the franchise can be glad to hear that both titles will most likely join the Xbox Game Pass subscription offer.
The console releases of the two AoE parts were announced in the form of a video trailer. The trailer begins with a presentation of the enormity of fan requests to receive the Xbox series. This is a great idea to show how long crowds of fans have been waiting for such news. The trailer is available below.
The original Age of Empires was founded in 1997 and is now celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Although the series has had a lot of success over the past two decades, they were basically only in the PC gaming community. Ironically, AoE has already appeared on PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS. The port for Sony was created in 2001, and for Nintendo in 2006. Since then, the series has not extended beyond personal computers, but in a few months the state of affairs will change. Hopefully, Microsoft has even more information up its sleeve, which will be shared soon.
Age of Empires II: DE and Age of Empires IV are available now on PC. Xbox will receive its ports in 2023 ( AoE IV – January 31).
