When the creators decided to revive the Addams story a few years ago, their plans were primarily to introduce this family full of disturbing secrets and original charm to a new generation. Quite unexpectedly, however, it turned out that the film gained extraordinary popularity also among older viewers who remembered the previous scenes. No wonder that the decision to create a sequel was made very quickly. As it turned out, the enthusiasm with which all those involved started their work was so great that even despite the unfavorable circumstances of the outbreak of the pandemic, the film was managed very efficiently. This is the result of great love not only for the previous film, but also for the Addams themselves.

Creating sequels that fans will enjoy is never the easiest thing to do, but for the Addams family it is even more difficult. How to create a new scenario while maintaining all the properties of these extraordinary characters that viewers like so much? How to make sure that neither Gomez, nor Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, nor any of the characters already well-known to the viewer lose their spirit?
The final result is the product of a group of screenwriters working together. The idea of an in-depth exploration of Wednsdey’s character developed through lengthy discussions. It was also there that the idea of a story about a haunted motorhome trip around the United States was born. Since the Addams’ interactions with mere mortals have always been an extremely important part of the narrative, the trip idea proved to be the perfect way to constantly confront these two worlds.
But taking the Addams story out of their home seems risky. After all, this house has always been another hero of the story. The motorhome the Addams were driving around could not be one of the most ordinary vehicles either. As Breman notes:
The greatest strength of the Addams people is not that they are simply different, but that they are different among ordinary people. The idea to leave the house and ride a motorhome seemed brilliant, but also extremely risky. So the solution turned out to be, simply put, to lock their spooky house in the car.
This has made sure that, despite the new creative narrative solutions, all the most important elements of the Addams story are right here. Each of the family members retains their own unique character traits, at the same time, their shared ghostly strangeness is constantly confronted with the ordinaryness of the everyday world. And even a motorhome, which does not look like an ordinary vehicle at first glance, can surprise you when we gradually discover how terrible secrets it hides!
