Netflix announced that the screening of the Gundam series from Sunrise studio will hit their platform. Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be the director of this production. This information was made available via Twitter.
The first news about plans to shoot an actor’s version of Gundam appeared a few years ago. It was then that Legendary Entertainment together with the aforementioned Sunrise were to take care of the adaptation. According to Ken Iyadomi, a representative of Sunrise, the success of Pacific Rim was key to getting the license .
At the moment, work is underway on a script that will come from the hand of the famous comic book author Brian K. Vaughan. For Vogt-Roberts, this is the second project based on Japanese source material. He is also working on the screening of the Metal Gear Solid series of games . He also has experience in productions with a lot of computer effects thanks to his latest movie – Kong: Skull Island .
Since its debut in the late 1970s, the Gundam brand has seen numerous series and animated films. In addition, manga, games and novels were also created that tell a new story or complement those already known. The series is considered revolutionary for the “Real Robots” genre thanks to the way it tells the story and the realistic approach to the machines themselves. Although we are talking about a science fiction series all the time, the creators have always relied on known technologies and scientific facts.
So far, there is no information about which story Gundam’s actors will use as the basis for the plot of their film. It is also not known when the premiere of the painting can be expected.
