‘Tekken 8’ officially brings back taekwondo champion Hwoarang

Since revealing Tekken 8 last year , Bandai Namco has been giving fans new information in the form of character trailers. This time Hwoarang was presented.

The latest one is about Hwoarang, a student of Taekwondo who made his debut in Tekken 3 . It’s been featured in every game since then, so its inclusion isn’t too surprising. The character is generally fan-favorite, so it’s great to see him make an appearance in the latest installment.

The trailer shows Hwoarang using his signature foot strikes and arrogant stance to take down the competition quickly. This of course includes Jin taking the brunt of the attacks as we see in the video. If you’ve been a fan of Hwoarang’s dominant kick in the past, it doesn’t look like much has changed. We also see him jumping on a motorcycle, confirming that Hwoarang is still one of the brighter dudes on the streets of Tekken.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have an answer to the question that bothers everyone: when will the premiere of Tekken 8 ? Presumably, we will see the fighter only in 2024, but this is only a guess. Bandai Namco has yet to give a concrete answer, leaving fans hoping for an announcement each time a new trailer is released. In March, there was a press event dedicated to the 8th installment of the game, which may suggest that the premiere is closer than we think, but again, this is only speculation.

After the release of  Tekken 8,  it will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The lineup will not only include Hwoarang and Jin Kazama, but also several other returning characters from King II, Marshall Law, Nina Williams, Kazuya Mishima and several others. As always, there will also be a completely new version of Jack’s robot, this time called Jack-8. There’s still at least a few more months until launch, and this list will only grow, potentially revealing some brand new characters for the franchise.
