Team Oppenheimer or Team Barbie? Both are best in Cinema City!

On July 21, two of the most famous premieres of this summer will appear in Cinema City cinemas, completely different in theme and style – Christopher Nolan’s dark Oppenheimer , the life story of the creator of the atomic bomb, and Barbie , directed by Greta Gerwig. These works arouse the interest of viewers from around the world and have already had their own hashtag #Barbenheimer. The creator of Oppenheimer himself encourages viewers to watch his film in IMAX technology, which fully reflects his directorial vision. Barbie showsin Cinema City, on the other hand, there is a contest, which is an additional attraction for viewers. And all this with a constant, holiday fun, which is the “Every moviegoer wins” lottery. You can’t spend such a weekend away from the cinema!

A cinematic masterpiece in IMAX format

Oppenheimer is the latest proposal from Christopher Nolan, the director of the Batman trilogy, Inception , Interstellar and Tenet. It is a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist responsible for the creation of the atomic bomb. During World War II, he worked as director of the “Manhattan” nuclear weapons development program, he also had great achievements in other fields of physics, including the study of black holes and cosmic rays. After the Americans used the bomb that was supposed to end the war, he devoted the rest of his life to activities aimed at limiting nuclear weapons in the world. He was accused by the US government and secret services of having links with the communist movement and spying activities. Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, is today considered one of the symbols of pacifism and opposition to nuclear weapons.

Christopher Nolan is famous for his attention to the spectacular visual side of films. He is a fan of IMAX technology, which he has been using since The Dark Knight in 2008. This format provides exceptional picture and sound quality as well as spectacular visual effects. Nolan also prefers traditional filmmaking methods, and points out that the key scene of the nuclear explosion was created without the use of CGI.

Barbie needs no introduction, and yet, until now, no feature film has been made about this pop culture icon. Greta Gerwig’s film features a real galaxy of stars. In the title role we will see Margot Robbie, an actress known from The Wolf of Wall Street , Suicide Squad , Once Upon a Time in Hollywood or Babylon . As Ken, she is partnered by Ryan Gosling, one of the leading lovers of Hollywood cinema. Other roles include America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman and Will Ferrell. The production draws special attention to the stunning set design, costumes, as well as the soundtrack  performed by pop and hip-hop stars. barbieContrary to appearances, however, it is not a candy film about a perfect blonde, it also touches on the issue of mental health problems. It all starts with nightmares that torment the main character every night. In the fuss-free, plastic life that is Barbie World, there is no place for this. For this reason, Barbie has to move to the real world, and there she will be surprised by many, not always pleasant, surprises.
