Takeuchi Yuko

Takeuchi Yūko, the Japanese actress and award-winner, died at the age of 40 in Tokyo.

It is with great sadness that we bring you the news that this great actress who played the role of Sarah Shelly “Sherlock” Futaba in the Miss Sherlock series was found dead in her Tokyo home. Even sadder is that it was an alleged suicide by hanging and her husband found her. The saddest thing is that she left behind two children, one of whom was born only nine months ago.

The actress was born on the island of Honshu. Her debut role was in the film Cyborg in 1996. Since then, she has appeared in many films and series. She played, among others in the horror film Ring in 1998 and the series Asuka in 2001. In 2003 – a little curiosity here – she appeared in the film Warushawa-no ak i, or Autumn in Warsaw . It is a film based on facts about several thousand Polish orphans deported from Siberia to Japan. She also acted in comedies. As a popular and well-known actress, she has also appeared in many commercials for luxury brands such as Shiseido.

Her talent has been noticed many times. She was awarded the statuette of the Japanese Film Academy three times in a row (in 2003 for Yomigaeri , in 2004 for Be with You , 2005 for Spring Snow ); and again in 2015 for the film Fushigi na misaki no monogatari. Awards rain fell on her also for her role in the movie Dog in the Sidecar.

In 2005-2008, she was married to actor Nakamura Shidō, with whom she had a son. She also married the actor Nakabayashi Taiki for the second time last year. They became parents in January this year.

She became known in the world thanks to the series Miss Sherlock produced by Hulu , where she appeared in the title role. The production was distributed in 18 countries. Some of Takeuchi Yūko’s most recent roles were in The Confidence Man JP: The Movie  and   The Confidence Man JP: Episode of the Princess . She starred in them with actor Haruma Miura, who also took his own life in July 2020.
