The premiere of the latest Suicide Legion is fast approaching and the cast of James Gunn’s film will soon be able to go to a well-deserved rest. However, as Margot Robbie says, it will be a longer break for her than DC.
Actress Harley Quinn made her debut on the big screen in 2016 with the premiere of the first installment of the Suicide Squad. She then starred in the production of Birds of the Night (and a fantastic emancipation Harley Quinn) and almost immediately moved to the upcoming Legion Suicide. After working so hard, Margot Robbie is ready for a long break from DC.
She admits that keeping up the energy for which Harley Quinn is known is exhausting and it could use a change of pace – possibly in the form of the new Barbie movie by Greta Gerwig. As Robbie said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
I don’t know when we’ll see Harley next time. I am just as intrigued as everyone else.
This leaves fans of her and Harley unsure when the actress will return to the DC universe.
It’s also bad news for those waiting for the sequel to Birds of the Night and the movie Gotham City Sirens, where Margot Robbie’s character joins forces with Catwoman and Poison Ivy. It is possible that the second production will not move forward, even though Robbie was previously excited about the trio in one production.
And although the actress is thinking about a break, she does not completely cut herself off from her character. In a recent interview with Total Film, she admitted that, in her opinion, Harley is the main source of the danger posed by the Suicide Squad:
One of the first things I said to James [Gunn] was that I think Harley is the catalyst for chaos. It’s not at the center of the narrative, but it’s great when the storyline sometimes falls on the shoulders of other characters, but she can be what generates the whole sequence of events.
Suicide Squad: The Suicide Squad will debut in theaters on August 6, and also on HBO Max abroad. Birds of the night and the first installment of the Suicide Legion are also available on the platform .
