Are you ready to watch the new Studio Ghibli movie? In July, the world saw the Boy and the Herons for the first time. Director Hayao Miyazaki came out of retirement to work on this film.
The premiere was met with impressive media buzz from around the globe, even though The Boy and the Heron received little or no promotion. However, everything changed yesterday when the first trailer for the Studio Ghibli film appeared online before its global premiere.
The trailer shows a glimpse of Miyazaki’s stunning new film, and netizens are already obsessed with it. From the breathtaking scenery to the fantastic leads, the Studio Ghibli production looks stunning. At the moment, unfortunately, there is no information yet about when the full version of the film will be released in cinemas in Poland. It has been released only in Japan for now. The home country of Hayao Miyazaki – a great animation director for whom this is supposed to be his last film.
Of course, we know a little about the film’s world premiere. It was presented at several international film festivals, including the most important ones in Toronto and Spain. Miyazaki’s last feature film will also be screened at the New York International Film Festival. Seeing these premieres, fans are hoping that The Boy and the Heron will hit theaters in Poland sooner rather than later, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
The latest fairy tale from a world-famous studio
If you don’t know anything about this project, it was first announced in 2017, a few years after Miyazaki’s retirement. Initially, Studio Ghibli hoped that The Boy and the Heron would be completed by 2021, but Miyazaki stressed that it would take longer after that. Due to additional delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, production on the film wrapped earlier this year under the director’s watchful eye. Now the film has hit theaters in Japan to great acclaim, so fans of the studio won’t want to miss it when it hits theaters near you.
Fans of Studio Ghibli’s work can count on, as always, excellent animation as well as an interesting and confusing story. The plot of these animations is usually based primarily on suggestive symbolism. There we can encounter the interplay of images and music, where everything is very atmospheric and fairy-tale-like. During the screening, we may have the impression that we are transported to a completely different world…
