A family of ducks
Mr. and Mrs. Duck dream of offspring. So they visit the Egg House together and adopt a small, initially unidentifiable ward. When the eggshell begins to crack after a few days, the excited parents know that they will soon be able to see the long-awaited offspring. To their surprise, their foster son turns out to be … a crocodile. Initially, the small pet does not cause much trouble, but when the son of Junior realizes that he is significantly different from his parents, he begins to rebel. He spontaneously sets off in search of his biological parents – and it is in this way that the title Lizard accompanies him. In the Better World district, which is home to the new wealthy, I find my mother, father and foster brother (Penguin!). But is this a reality which Junior wanted? How great is your parents’ love? Could this story end well? The author herself suggests answers to these and other questions.
In the opinion of the reviewer
The proposal of the publishing house Wilga – Jaszczurunia – made a great impression on me. Both Guśniowska’s idea and Jola Richter-Magnuszewska’s illustrations captivate the reader and encourage them to read further. The book can be described as “the right one for children” and “wise” at the same time. The story presented by the authors allows us to understand that a parent’s love is infinite and the differences in appearance do not matter when you have a real affection for someone. Loneliness, on the other hand, is our worst enemy and the cause of all dilemmas. Adoption thread in Jaszczuruniit is conducted properly, which makes the book easily move us. The youngest will appreciate the simplicity of the story and will probably quickly like the animal heroes, while parents will gain material that they can easily use during “difficult” conversations.
64 pages of happiness
Lizardit is a large, small book with a hard, solid cover. Illustrated beautifully, remarkably and with a message. The author decided to divide it into short chapters, which enables better organization of reading evenings for children. My only doubts are the title of the book. Jaszczurunia is the heroine we only get to know in the Egg House, when Junior is looking for his biological parents. Therefore, she is not the central character (although the story about the heroine’s life may also be touching). Lizard with her faithful friend unicorn also appears on the cover, which misleads the potential reader – the heroine visually resembles her friend, crocodile Junior (they are small reptiles!), Apart from the obvious differences. This little cognitive discomfort will, however, reward you, the readers, for
