Karen is Vecna’s sister
There was a lot of talk about Karen Wheeler’s significant role in season four, and not because of the increased screen time. On the contrary – theories about her relationship with Henry Kreel began during the month-long break between the episodes, which is the hottest period for the emergence of more and more interesting theories.
When Netflix released posters promoting the second half of the season, fans quickly picked up an interesting relationship. The images of the heroes who played an important role in the series were assigned to places important to their plots. So the image of Joyce and Hopper appeared above the Russian prison, Mike and Jonathan above the house in California, and above the Kreel house we see … Karen Wheeler.
Placing her character here seems quite unusual, considering the low level of character participation in season four, and the fact that she was the only one of our heroes’ Hawkins parents to receive their own poster. So why did she appear over the family home of Vecna, the main antagonist of season four?
Many people believe that she is Henry Kreel’s sister – Alice, whom we saw in the memories of Jedynka. While she has been officially pronounced dead, it wouldn’t be the first time in the show’s history that one of the heroes returns from beyond the grave. Some fans are convinced that Alice changed her name after the traumatic events and started a new life eventually becoming Karen Wheeler.
An additional argument for this theory is that Vecna for some reason spared none other than Nancy Wheeler, who in this scenario could be considered Henry’s niece. By marking and ultimately killing Nancy, Vecna’s plan could have been carried out much faster – the teenager, however, was set free, although marking her would have greatly accelerated the implementation of the antagonist’s plan.
