On Thursday, May 26 at 23:00, before the premiere of Stranger Things 4 , a screening inspired by the series took place on the walls of the Wawel Royal Castle.
Just before the premiere of the first part of Stranger Things 4 , there was a spectacular projection inspired by the Netflix series, which metaphorically presented the re-opening of the portal to the Other Side.
Ever since a girl named Eleven opened a portal between Hawkins and the Other Side (a terrifying alternate dimension that exists beneath the town’s surface) in 1983 in Hawkins, Indiana, portals like this began opening up in other, most unexpected places.
Yesterday they could also be seen in our world. On the occasion of the premiere of Stranger Things 4 , portals appeared in famous places in as many as 14 countries – including on the walls of Wawel in Krakow.
This unique event is part of a global project and inaugurated with a projection at the Empire State Building in New York. Then the gates to the Other Side opened in Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Spain, among others.
Wawel was chosen not by accident – it is one of the most important and recognizable buildings in Poland. The defensive walls of the castle can be seen as a symbolic border between the world of fairy tales and legends, incl. about the Wawel dragon and the outside world, which brings about natural associations with the portal to the TV series Other Side, which is a transition from the real world to another dimension.
The projection was admired by the inhabitants of Krakow gathered on the Vistula Boulevards, but not only! Stranger Things fans from all over Poland also gathered near Wawel, on the Dębnicki and Grunwaldzki Bridges . See the report for yourself:
