It would seem that every Disney animated film is a global hit. However, Strange World is far from this rule. After 5 days of theatrical coverage, the studio earned just $11.2 million. Profits were estimated to be three times higher. The last time such a poor result during Thanksgiving was 20 years ago. Planet of Treasures was then enriched by $16.6 million. The likely budget for this year’s animation was around $125 million, which is why Walt Disney Animation Studios is certainly feeling the loss.
How do film critics rate the production?
Unfortunately, the situation does not look positive here either. Strange World received its lowest CinemaScore (B-rated) in 30 years. Starting with 1991’s Beauty and the Beast , which was rated A, all other animations were rated either A or A-.
What do we know about Strange World ?
The Clade family are legendary explorers. The film takes the viewer on a journey through an unexplored land full of fantastic creatures. The crew will face many dangers and adventures to complete what is probably the most important mission of their lives. The production is directed by Don Hall ( The Big Six, Raya and the Last Dragon), whose film won an Oscar . He collaborates with Qui Nguyen and Roy Conli. Check out the trailer below:
