“Star Wars: Republic Commando” will go to PS4 and Switch

Soon, owners of consoles from Sony and Nintendo will be able to set off on another journey to a distant galaxy. This time it will not be a new title, but a game that has never appeared on the platforms of Japanese companies before.

Aspyr Media, a company known for creating game ports for new platforms, today announced the imminent arrival of Star Wars: Republic Commando on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The modernized version of the title from sixteen years ago will go on sale on April 4. As part of backward compatibility, the game will also run on PS5.

According to the announcement from PlayStation Blog, Aspyr intends to respect the classics while using the current solutions. The company representative – Mallie Rust – noted that what worked in the past does not necessarily work now. For this reason, a decision was made to adjust the controls to suit the capabilities of the new controllers. The update will also get additional challenges for which players will receive trophies. Platinum collectors should be pleased with this news.

Star Wars: Republic Commando first hit the market in 2005. Originally, the game was only available on the first Xbox and PC. The action takes place during the Clone Wars. Players as the commander of the Delta squad – a clone of RC-1138 – take control of a group of elite soldiers. The game contains tactical elements in the form of the possibility of giving orders to your subordinates.
