During the Xbox Showcase, Ubisoft pulled an ace up its sleeve and unveiled a hitherto mysterious Star Wars project . It’s about Star Wars Outlaws , a new action game set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi . It will be the first Star Wars game with a completely open world. In Outlaws we will play as a completely new character Kay Vess. In the trailer, we see Han Solo frozen in carbonite, and it is this fragment that hints at when the action takes place.
Vess will be played by Humberly Gonzalez, while her companion Nix will be voiced by Dee Bradley Baker – an actor well known to fans of Clone Wars , Rebels, The Bad Batch , etc. The plot is to focus on the criminal underworld of the Galaxy Far Away, where Vess and a group of thugs planning a big attack. So far, the idea brings to mind Grand Theft Auto in the Star Wars universe , but of course you have to wait for the final results. The first information about the creation of Outlaws appeared in 2021, but at that time we didn’t even know the title, and we only knew that it would be an open world game.
There is also a gameplay presentation!
The Xbox presentation included only a short trailer without fragments of the game itself. Fortunately, the players didn’t have to wait long for the “meat”, because a day later, during Ubisoft Forward, the company presented a new video . It was here that viewers finally became convinced that Outlaws would definitely stand out from the existing collection of Star Wars games .
In the approximately 10-minute-long material, we see the main character taking part in shootouts, riding a speeder, and flying her ship into space. Undoubtedly, there is a lot going on here, and at the same time, we now have a deeper vision of how the open world of Outlaws is supposed to function. It should be noted that, as in the case of games with Cal Kestis, where the player could assume the Jedi skin, Star Wars Outlaws will allow you to identify with a character more like Han Solo – adventurous, uncouth and associated with the criminal underworld. Thus, there is hardly any reason to expect lightsaber duels or impressive Force tricks.
Explore different planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an up-and-coming villain looking for freedom and the means to start a new life with her sidekick Nix. Fight, steal and outwit your way through the galaxy’s criminal syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.

Star Wars Outlaws still does not have an exact release date, but it will happen at some point in 2024. Owners of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC will probably be able to play the game.
