A new report from reputable journalist Jason Schreier claims that BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is having serious production issues, which put the game into a hiatus. The remake was announced last September during the PlayStation event. It was then confirmed that the game would be available on PlayStation 5 and PC, and it was speculated that it would be available on platforms such as Xbox after its premiere. Since the announcement, developer Aspyr Media has remained silent on the project, leaving many people to ask when we will get the next look or update on the much-anticipated remake.
According to a new Bloomberg report, a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicwas put on hold after two game directors were fired. Design Director Brad Prince and Art Director Jason Minor were fired earlier this month after Aspyr unveiled a demo of the game to Sony and Lucasfilm on June 30. Sources told Bloomberg that Aspyr spent a “disproportionate” amount of time and money on the project and that continuing at this pace would be unsustainable. The developer has reportedly been working on the game for three years and estimated it would be finished by the end of 2022, but some said 2025 was a more realistic date. So far, the game has not been canceled. Some even believe the game could be transferred to Saber Interactive, which outsourced the project.

Should the game be released, expect Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic to make significant changes to the gameplay while leaving the story unchanged. Only time will tell if we will see the remake, but this is one of the most anticipated games on the horizon. It would be a big disappointment for fans if the game were completely canceled.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is still to be officially released on PlayStation 5 and PC.
