As they say: Christmas, Christmas and after Christmas. This year’s Christmas is over, but perhaps some fans of Star Wars and LEGO bricks missed a certain curiosity. Apparently, the holiday spirit was clearly active in LEGO Star Wars , as a special one-hour compilation of Christmas stories was released. While fans of shorts may associate previously released episodes, such a condensed form will certainly facilitate the screening while waiting for the New Year.
Many iconic characters from Star Wars take part in the stories , including Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, as well as Baby Yoda and the dangerous monster Wampa. The whole thing is embellished with humor characteristic of the LEGO brand.
While most Star Wars releases tend to shy away from the winter months, the franchise itself often makes references to the holiday season for a variety of reasons. In 1977, the huge success of Star Wars: A New Hope saw Star Wars licensed merchandise sell at a tremendous rate. During the holiday season, demand overwhelmingly outweighed supply, and Kenner began selling certificates that could be exchanged for a toy once it arrived in stock.
In 1978, the festive excitement of the saga continued with The Star Wars Holiday Special . Unfortunately, Star Wars creator George Lucas became disillusioned with the final product, and the film was ultimately never aired or released on video media again. Despite this turn of events, some fans still hope that the project can be revived someday.
In 2020, Star Wars offered a whole new way to celebrate Christmas with The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special . This is the plot description:
Directly after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Rebirth , Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day and embarks on a new adventure with BB-8 to learn more about the Force. In the mysterious Jedi Temple, she is thrown on a journey through time through beloved events in Star Wars history. Rey’s paths will cross, among others with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine films of the Skywalker saga.
