Dramatic Labs released the premiere trailer for Star Trek: Resurgence , an upcoming narrative adventure game set in the Star Trek universe .
The trailer features both Ambassador Spock and Captain William Riker (voiced by Jonathan Frakes). Star Trek: Resurgence is the first game from Dramatic Labs, a new studio founded by over 20 former Telltale Games employees. His staff previously worked on titles such as Batman , The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the designers talked about how they want to create something like an interactive Star Trek movie .
Basically , we’re making a playable Star Trek movie, one big story that unfolds with the player as the protagonist ( s ) of the narrative. There will be many different scenes and events, but they all serve a larger central plot.
said Kent Mudle, the game’s film director
Spock in Star Trek: Resurgence
Star Trek: Resurgence takes place shortly after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis . The authors of the game talked about how they decided which characters to use and how to implement them into the existing canon.
It ‘s always a thrill to play iconic characters no matter what franchise it is , and that was especially true with a character like Spock . _ _ It’s always fun for fans to interact and get an impression of a character we know so well, and Spock brings that assurance and pure presence to every scene he appears in. This interaction and crossbreeding with familiar characters is always fun, but at the same time you want to introduce original characters whose fates are to be determined (mostly by the player!). Keeping this balance is always essential.

Riker in Star Trek: Resurgence
Frakes voices Riker in Star Trek: Resurgence (as in episodes of the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks ). The story takes place after the film Star Trek: The Next Generation , in 2280, with Riker as the new captain of the USS Titan (a Luna-class ship, not the original or Titan-A) that left the Enterprise -D in Star Trek: Nemesis.
We took our premise from an early episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Last Outpost , which first introduced the Tkon Empire. Riker played an important role in this episode. He has first-hand experience with Portal Six Three, the guardian of the Tkon Empire, so incorporating him into our narrative felt like a natural fit. And of course we are huge fans of Jonathan Frakes!
