We regret to announce the death of Grant Imahara, former co-host of the popular science program “Myth Busters”. An engineer and special effects specialist died of a brain aneurysm. He was 49 years old.
Imahara died unexpectedly on Monday. Information about this unpleasant event was published on the night of July 13 to 14 Polish time. This shocking news shocked the fans of the famous engineer and his former associates. A spokesman for Discovery TV – which broadcasted the Mythbusters – in an official statement expressed great regret over their colleague’s premature death and expressed condolences to his family.
Before becoming one of the hosts of the smash hit science show, Grant Imahara was a special effects engineer at THX and Industrial Light and Magic (under Lucasfilm). He specialized in making animatronic models. His portfolio included, among others a trilogy of Star Wars prequels , two sequels to The Matrix and Lost World: Jurassic Park .
He joined the Myth Busters team in the third season of the program. He worked with it until 2014, when, together with two other hosts – Kari Byron and Tory Belleci – left to focus on other goals. Together, they returned to the small screen in a similarly themed Netflix show, the White Rabbit Project . Unfortunately, only one season was shot.
Imahara recently was a consultant on the Walt Disney Imagineering project, whose goal was to create a robot capable of performing various acrobatic tricks. The results of his and the rest of the team’s work are described in the publication Stickman: Towards a Human Scale Acrobatic Robot . The prepared prototype eventually took the form of a product called Stuntronics. These machines are used in Disney amusement parks around the world.
