As a result of a series of unexplained phenomena, the Moon falls out of its orbit and selects a collision course with the Earth. If there is a collision, our planet will be destroyed. Former astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced that the cause of this phenomenon is the action of some mysterious force of unclear origin. To most scientists and politicians, this theory seems crazy, but Fowler believes there is still a chance to save Earth. Along with the only people who believe in its concept: the former astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a man called Houseman (John Bradley), a conspiracy theorist, Fowler prepares a last chance mission. Putting all their knowledge, experience and life at stake, they embark on a cosmic journey during which they will discover that the moon is not what it has always seemed to be.
