Sony denies rumors: there will be no movie based on “God of War”

When titles such as  The Last of Us  and  Uncharted are in production, it’s no wonder Sony fans would like to bring the God of War series to the cinema screens as well . Unfortunately, there is no indication that this will happen.

For months, there have been rumors and theories among fans about the potential screen adaptation of the  God of War series. Unfortunately, we can leave the film about Kratos in the sphere of fantasy for the time being: in  The New York Times, Sony has denied these reports and admitted that it does not plan to expand the series even further in the near future.

An article from a daily Sony commented on the Japanese manufacturer’s plans for the near future. Mention was made of the upcoming series The Last of Us  from HBO, the shooting of which will start this summer, or the movie Uncharted –  new photos from the production have just hit the web. Sony placed special emphasis on these two titles, which is why  God of War  remains outside of the filmmakers’ area of interest for now.

Although it does not promise to be a screen adaptation of the series, players will certainly not be able to complain about the lack of movies and series from their favorite universes. Sony is actively working on these titles, but there is also a movie based on Ghost of Tsushima, the  Twisted Metal series or further adaptations from the Resident Evil universe on the horizon  The film and series industry has undoubtedly discovered the potential of stories previously known only from video games.

Currently, Sony is also focusing on the latest part of the series, entitled God of War: Ragnarok. As we wrote before, this title currently has internal issues that will likely delay its release. Initially, it was planned for the end of 2021, now this date is in question.
