Solo for battle – review of the game “Logiquest: Shadow Glyphs”

This adventure puzzle game initiates the game in the temple of shadows. Our task is to return the once stolen precious stones to their place to pay tribute to the ancient people. Once a day, sunlight, which will enter the cave through small openings, will illuminate the patterns and show if the puzzle has been solved.

Logiquest – I like it!

As a reminder – Logiquest is a series published by Rebel Publishing, which is characterized by simple rules, which are quite a challenge for the whole family. In principle, these are one-person puzzles, but when looking for alternative (and original!) Ways to solve them, you will probably be happy to use the help of other household members. I can assure you that the elements of the games in this series – and I have played all those published so far – are of the highest quality, the difficulty level is varied, and the entertainment is enough for a few hours (regular play is recommended, not all at once). Logiquest: Shadow Glyphsit is at least an unusual challenge for the human spatial imagination. By arranging the blocks, we try to predict how the layers of successive shadows will overlap. We have 2 variants of the game to choose from. So let’s play!

24 double-sided job cards …

The first possible game mode is adventure. The player’s task is to get the highest possible score by solving each of the puzzles in as few days as possible. We start with the task card number 1 and write down the total number of times we turn on the light (the aforementioned sunlight that flows into the cave through small openings) to check your suggestions for solutions. It is worth remembering that the task cards have two sides, thus they contain two puzzles. The second mode is based on puzzles. We start with a card with a lower difficulty level, then choose any quest card that does not have a chest symbol in the corner, and then try to solve the quest. With the light off, place the blocks so that when you turn them on, the lamps cast a shadow corresponding to the shape of the pattern on the wall.

… With four levels of difficulty

There are few elements in the box: a fold-out board (very handy – you can put everything inside and take it, for example, to a picnic), 10 blocks, 24 double-sided task cards, a score sheet and instructions. The game weighs just over half a kilogram. As it is a puzzle adventure, the randomness is medium. We regulate the way our gameplay is to take place. There is also little interaction in it, as it is assumed to be a one-person ride. Logiquest: Shadow Glyphs is a proposition for everyone due to the available difficulty levels. The youngest (8+) will probably be happy to play a game with their parents, the elders will find motivation to think! Exercising spatial imagination can be a lot of fun, as long as we make some time and don’t get discouraged after the first failures.
