She started out with a cameo in the 90s favorite teen series “Beverly Hills, 90210”. But she proved that acting has no secrets for her. Today we celebrate with Lucy Liu.

I wish people wouldn’t just see me as an Asian girl who beats everyone or an Asian girl without emotions. People see Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock in a romantic comedy, but not me. If you add race to it, it goes like this: “Well, it’s too Asian” or “It’s too American.” In a way, I was pushed out of both categories. It’s very strange. You’re not Asian enough, and then you’re not American enough, so it’s really frustrating.
I think there are many interesting roles to play for Lucy, especially as we are witnessing major changes in cinematography. And we wish her that.
